Express Entry Draws

This week we saw two Express Entry Draws:

Draw #193 took place on June 23, 2021 and issued 1,002 invitations to apply (ITAs) to qualifying individuals of the Provincial Nominee Program. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score was 742.

Draw #194, on June 24, 2021, issued 6000 invitations to apply (ITAs) to qualifying individuals of the Canadian Experience Class. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score was 357.

Press Releases

In anticipation of World Refugee Day, Marco Mendicino announced three new initiatives to welcome and support more refugees in Canada on June 18, 2021.

  1. A new policy was announced with regards to the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) which was launched 2018. This policy will help 500 refugees and their families settle in Canada.

  2. Canada will welcome 40,000 protected persons in 2021, up from the initially promised 23,500.

  3. Marco Mendicino also announced that $3 million will be invested in 9 organizations which support resettled refugees over the next 2 years.


Monday, June 20, 2021, marked National Indigenous Peoples Day and it was announced that the oath of citizenship will now include Aboriginal and treaty rights of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

“I swear (or affirm) that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada, including the Constitution, which recognizes and affirms the Aboriginal and treaty rights of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, and fulfil my duties as a Canadian citizen."

Program Delivery Updates

Effective June 21, 2021, under the International Experience Canada program, Canada has signed a new Youth Mobility Agreement (YMA) with Andorra.

Border News

Canada has once again extended the border restrictions between Canada & the United States by another month. The current extension ends on July 21, 2021.

The flight ban from India has also been extended until July 21, 2021; however, flights from Pakistan are once again permitted.


Effective July 5, 2021 at 11:59 PM, travelers entering Canada who are fully vaccinated with one of Canada’s approved vaccines will no longer need to quarantine or be required to take a PCR test on day 8. More details can be found here.


For those who have received their confirmation of permanent residence (COPR) during the pandemic but have not been permitted to enter Canada, the wait is finally over. More information will be released soon with information on how to obtain a new COPR.
