Express Entry Draws

There weren’t any Express Entry draws this week, but based on the patterns we’ve seen this year so far, we can expect to see at least one draw next week.

On Monday, June 14, 2021, Minister Mendicino, Minister Bennett and Minister Miller announced that Indigenous peoples can now reclaim their traditional names on their immigration identity documents.

“Supporting First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in reclaiming and using their Indigenous names is an integral part of the shared journey of reconciliation. Traditional names are deeply connected to Indigenous languages and cultures, and an individuals’ identity and dignity. This change means that Indigenous peoples can proudly reclaim their name, dismantling the legacy of colonialism and reflecting their true identity to the world.”

Program Delivery Updates

On Friday, June 11, 2021, new instructions were published indicating whenever possible, officers should prioritize residential summer camp counsellor’s applications, continuing to aim in processing these applications within 14 days. This instruction is effective until September 21, 2021. Further clarification was provided on Tuesday, June 15, 2020.

Also on Friday, June 11, 2021, clarification and guidance have been added to the open work permit for vulnerable persons - International Mobility Program.

On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, instructions were updated for foreign nationals who are inside Canada and who have received a letter of introduction after approval of a study or work permit application that was processed outside of Canada. The ability to request their examination and document issuance within Canada via the webform has been extended until August 31, 2021.

CBSA News

We should expect an update by Monday, June 21, 2021, regarding the border with the USA, as well as any news on the resumption of flights from India and Pakistan.

While not an international border, the borders between Ontario and its neighbouring provinces, Manitoba & Quebec were reopened on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
